Tihamér Tóth is an associate professor and associate dean at the Pázmány Péter Catholic University in Budapest, giving lectures in EU, international and Hungarian competition law, public consumer protection law and the law of administrative sanctions for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. He obtained his PhD in 2001 at the University of Szeged. He is chairman of the Scientific Committee of the Competition research Center. He is chief editor of the quarterly Hungarian State Aid Law journal and member of the editorial board of the Competition Mirror, the official journal of the competition authority. He is the author of numerous competition law related books and papers in Hungarian and in English. During the 2015/16 academic year he was teaching and researching at the law schools of Loyola Chicago and Notre Dame as a Fulbright scholar.
His knowledge of competition law stems from his previous engagement with the Hungarian Competition Authority, where he was chairman of the Competition Council of the Hungarian Competition Office from 2003-2009. After graduating from the University of Szeged in 1994 he worked at various ministries preparing Hungary for the EC accession negotiations.
Tihamér Tóth has also been an of-counsel for Réczicza Dentons Europe LLP in Budapest since 2009.
